So Delilah Devlin asked if I would interested in writing a blog for her. I, of course, jumped on the chance. I opened up a Word doc and went to work on it. Needless to say I think I ended up with 3 or 4 different documents because my brain just kept jumping around.

What would I write about? I'm a reader who sometimes thinks about writing. My options were pretty open.

Me, my life, what I like to read, how has reading changed my life

Just so many things crossed my mind and one idea ran right into another.

I did finally narrow down my focus and pick one idea.

If you noticed I've read to fairly major books recently. Well I find them major.

Heat Wave by Richard Castle

Twilight by Stephanie Meyer

I will admit to enjoying both books. It was nice to have a departure from romance while reading HEAT WAVE. If you don't know the TV show Castle is about a writer that is doing ride-alongs with the police. I love the show. So in the show Richard Castle writes about. hence HEAT WAVE.

The other book is TWILIGHT. Yes you read that correctly. I caved and read TWILIGHT. I'm not hopping on the Twilight Saga bandwagon but I did enjoy it for what it is. At this point you might also want to know that I have watched the movie and that I did pick up NEW MOON today while at Wal-mart.

For this month I'm going to have two separate lists. I have been reading an anthology and decided to list those on their own. Really I deserve credit for reading every short story in there. Some of them were good, odd and so-never-should-have-read-it.

Since I do follow along with her blog and books I had an idea of what her's was like and just could wait to read it. I wasn't disappointed in the least.

Oh happy days the year is almost over. For me this is a good thing. I have company pretty much this entire month which will keep me nice and busy. Then in December the Hubster comes home for about 2 weeks. Loving called his mid-tour break even though it is well past the middle of his tour. No big deal though. He'll be here for Christmas and GirlBaby's birthday. All good in my book.

Then he's back off for a few more months and more chaos will ensue with moving and all that entails.

So of course since it is November 1st that mean yesterday was Halloween. So for your viewing pleasure my children dressed up.

I'll be back later to give my reads for October and anything else I can think of.

This year we had the Army Commando, SWAT member and the witch.

Wow its Wednesday

This week seems to be flying right on by.

On Monday Melissa Schroeder popped on over for some coffee. My other two friends came over to pick up the elliptical I borrowed then never used. The boys used it and I did for a little bit when I first got it but let's be honest I haven't really used it. I've come to the conclusion that they are height specific. The reach for the arms and your feet on the feety parts. Really not that comfortable.

So Monday was busy with company and I had a great time. I really enjoy talking about books and just life in general.

Yesterday is rained. That's about it. I saw no reason to leave the house. I did read HOLIDAY HEAT. Its an anthology with UNRAVELED by Jaci Burton and SWEET CHARITY by Lauren Dane. Both short stories and good reads.

That brings me to today where is was raining earlier but its stopped now. Still have no plans on going out. Not sure what I have on tap really. Maybe read another book. Maybe finish putting laundry away. Who know. I certainly don't.

Sunday: Pumpkins

I think I did pretty well blogging this past week. One a day which is odd for me so don't get used to it. LOL

So what will today's blog be about you ask? As it says in the blog title: PUMPKINS

I had to carve pumpkins yesterday in prep for Halloween. It isn't a big deal really. I enjoy doing them but at the same time only 1 out of 3 kids will actually help. My daughter will carve her own. Even go so far as to gut it.

I was responsible for these two. The belong to the boys who are 7 and 3.

I thought it was great. So great in fact that I emailed Ms. Jump to let her know. I wouldn't have even thought about emailing an author until I started hanging out on the two Yahoo groups I'm a part of: WICKED WRITERS and WRITEMINDED.

Don't authors want to hear if you enjoyed their book? That's what I'm told at least. How nice it must be do get an email saying that your book made someone laugh at some of the lines, that you felt like you could actually know the characters in real life and that you really just enjoyed the time spent to read your book.

That's how I felt when I finished reading DOORSTEP DADDY.

I'm loving Harlequin more and more these days.

No books were read Wednesday which is a bit of a surprise. Okay not really. The kids had a half day and were home by 1:00 PM.

We decorated the front for Halloween. I must say that the glow in the dark, black light spider web isn't very cool. I bought the black lights but I don't think they are strong enough to make them glow.

This weekend we're going to have to carve pumpkins. Three kids means three pumpkins. There is a very high chance that I am doing two of them if not all. My daughter will probably try her best to carve hers. It really should be fun.

I know we are doing one DRAGON (daughter's), older son wants a TANK or HELICOPTER which I'm very unsure about and will have to see if I can find and youngest really doesn't care and I'm a DOG would be cute.

Have you carved your pumpkins? Are you even planning on doing it? Do you decorate or dress up or pass out candy?

We decorate and pass out candy. I am soooo not dressing up. Just not my thing. I'm pretty un-fun like that.

The Anetakis Tycoons Series ~ Maya Banks

I have finally gotten around to reading books 2 and 3 of The Anetakis Tycoons by Maya (I love your writing so much I'd gladly stalk if possible) Banks.

I read the first book when it came out. I loved it. I patiently waited for the next two book but was in a print book reading slump. I rectified that situation today by reading both.

The men are all arrogant and the women strong and bought them to their knees. I have to say my favorite heroine was Bella the Rebel Bride. She was the feisty, let's go get tatted up one of the group. She wasn't intimidated by their money or power which I thought was awesome.

For me these were quick reads. Maya's writing I think makes it even quicker. Oh if only they lasted longer but then I'd probably be upset that it took longer to read so whatever. My fickle heart will always be torn.

Leah Brooke ~ Desire, Oklahoma Series

Recently I bought the Desire, Oklahoma series in ebook. I quickly got down to business and knocked them out reading wise.

Let me tell you they were fantastic.

I will say that I should have taken a break I think between books 2 and 3. I was more interested in the story of book 3 and not so much the sex even though it was still hot and sexy. The writing was still very good and I was pretty invested in the town and people. Oh if only a place like Desire existed. I'm sure I'm not the first to say that either. There are plenty of fun loving, looking for their soul mate men there that I wouldn't mind meeting.

I can't think of anything that put me off in any of the books. I enjoyed the mystery of who was out to get Erin in book 4. I must say I was a bit surprised and I liked it.

That's about all I can think of right now. Its a little late while I write this up. I'm sure part of my brain has gone to sleep. If you want to ask me something specific just drop me a line or leave a comment.

Its a new week

I didn't get any book reading done this weekend. I didn't even try actually. My oldest had her friend over and Friday and I had her until Sunday. Not a big deal but it was an extra person in the house.

This week I have to get some serious cleaning done in prep for the up-coming company. Now if only I could get off my butt and do it. You can say that I lack the motivation to do it. I really hate cleaning.

Also this I need back brakes on the truck, check on hourly child care for the youngest, a half day of school for the older 2 on Wednesday and decorate for Halloween still.

Seems I'll have a busy week. Not sure if I'll get any reading done but I'll try.

I have done a bit of reading this week. Still mostly short stories but in my way of thinking it all counts. It is still time out of my day reading someone's work.

I'm loving the Desire, Oklahoma Series from Leah Brooke. I've read book 1 and 2. Am thinking about reading book 3 today. Haven't quite decided yet.

My first experience with them was ordering Kris Cook's first ever book PERFECTION
It was an easy and simple transaction. Downloading went smoothly. Nuff said.

Tonight I decided to get some books that were on my wish list.

You know what? It took maybe an hour and I'm already back in business. They sent an email asking what the order number was. I sent one back with what they needed and they took care of the problem. No big deal. Quick like bunnies. It was awesome.

So I just had to let you all know that my experience with BookStrand customer service was excellent. I say shop with confidence with them.

Holy Moly its Thursday

Where has the time gone this week? Oh I know. I was at the dentist with the kids 2 out of the past 3 days. We'll be going back again next Tuesday for my daughter again too.

The dentist is a necessary evil. Luckily the kids have all done really well with the procedures they've had. They are both prone to cavities so I've learned.

So what book stuff has been going on so far this week for everyone? Me? I got SWEET SEDUCTION by Maya Banks and INSTINCTIVE by Cathryn Fox delivered to my door yesterday.

The day before it was A FIELD GUIDE TO DEMONS, FAIRIES, FALLEN ANGELS, AND OTHER SUBVERSIVE SPIRITS. (This is the link for the hardcover. Mine is paperback and has the same cover) I've yet to go through that one but it looks pretty cool.

Binding Ties Series from Samhain

Yesterday was a release day at Samhain Publishing. I love Samhain and the books they have. There is something there for everyone. I do purchase my Samhain books from My Bookstore and More.

My latest acquisition from them was the Binding Ties series. I bought and read all three yesterday.

All of the covers are beautiful. All of the stories are great. This is a BDSM series so if you aren't into it as reading material then don't get it. There's no degrading or painful to read material but the world is explored for each of the women. All of the women want what is given to them. They are also all strong, independent women who have strong caring men who know what they are doing. I thought they were all well written and oh so hot to read.

I actually read some books this week. I had been in a funk as of late and I'm slowly pulling myself out of it.. One thing that helped was that the man I call the Hubster or T, sent back my Sony Reader. Oh happy days. In honor of getting the reader back I did a little shopping on the eConnect site. Go figure. New look

I like to change out the look of the blog. Its fun and just something I enjoy. I like to use the pictures I've taken of books I own for my header. It could be the work of one single author or just whatever ones I fell work best together.

This time around I tweaked the original picture and I think it turned out great. But than that's my opinion and since its my blog I think that's almost all that counts.

So hope you like the new look. I've also done some work on the links that I have. I think I need to play around with it some more. I'm thinking about going back to a 2 column style but haven't decided yet.

I went to the Renaissance Festival up in Maryland yesterday and met up with Melissa Schroeder and family. Had a really good time.

Today I watched football and was disgusted to see that I am losing this week's fantasy football match-up. With only 2 more players to play I just don't see me pulling over an upset. I also read FRANNIE 'N' THE PRIVATE DICK. It was a quick and cute read. Now don't get your knickers in a knot, there is some smokin' sex in there, it just happened to be a cute story.

One day you may get tired of me talking about Delilah. I will lament the day that happens but I really just can't help myself. I enjoy her books. Some more than others but isn't that how it always goes. She writes great stories that take me to wonderful places.

So.....Frannie 'n' the Private Dick has been reissued all on her own. It was originally released in 2004 as part of an anthology. I haven't read it yet but I do have my copy ready to go. Oh and you HAVE to read the excerpt Delilah put on her blog. So good.
