It was nice to have a departure from romance while reading HEAT WAVE. If you don't know the TV show Castle is about a writer that is doing ride-alongs with the police. I love the show. So in the show Richard Castle writes about. hence HEAT WAVE.

The other book is TWILIGHT. Yes you read that correctly. I caved and read TWILIGHT. I'm not hopping on the Twilight Saga bandwagon but I did enjoy it for what it is. At this point you might also want to know that I have watched the movie and that I did pick up NEW MOON today while at Wal-mart.

My Reads: October Part II

Here are the other books I got around to reading in October as well. For me this is a good thing. I have company pretty much this entire month which will keep me nice and busy. Then in December the Hubster comes home for about 2 weeks. Loving called his mid-tour break even though it is well past the middle of his tour. No big deal though. He'll be here for Christmas and GirlBaby's birthday. All good in my book.

Then he's back off for a few more months and more chaos will ensue with moving and all that entails.

So of course since it is November 1st that mean yesterday was Halloween. So for your viewing pleasure my children dressed up.

I'll be back later to give my reads for October and anything else I can think of.

This year we had the Army Commando, SWAT member and the witch.

Wow its Wednesday

This week seems to be flying right on by.

On Monday Melissa Schroeder popped on over for some coffee. My other two friends came over to pick up the elliptical I borrowed then never used. The boys used it and I did for a little bit when I first got it but let's be honest I haven't really used it. I've come to the conclusion that they are height specific. The reach for the arms and your feet on the feety parts. Really not that comfortable.

So Monday was busy with company and I had a great time. I really enjoy talking about books and just life in general.

Yesterday is rained. That's about it. I saw no reason to leave the house. I did read HOLIDAY HEAT. Its an anthology with UNRAVELED by Jaci Burton and SWEET CHARITY by Lauren Dane. Both short stories and good reads.

That brings me to today where is was raining earlier but its stopped now. Still have no plans on going out. Not sure what I have on tap really. Maybe read another book. Maybe finish putting laundry away. Who know. One a day which is odd for me so don't get used to it. LOL

So what will today's blog be about you ask? As it says in the blog title: PUMPKINS

I had to carve pumpkins yesterday in prep for Halloween. It isn't a big deal really. I enjoy doing them but at the same time only 1 out of 3 kids will actually help. My daughter will carve her own. Even go so far as to gut it.

Here are this year's creations.

My 10 y/o daughter did this one. How nice it must be do get an email saying that your book made someone laugh at some of the lines, that you felt like you could actually know the characters in real life and that you really just enjoyed the time spent to read your book.

That's how I felt when I finished reading DOORSTEP DADDY.

I'm loving Harlequin more and more these days.

I got nothin' for ya today....

No books were read Wednesday which is a bit of a surprise. Okay not really. The kids had a half day and were home by 1:00 PM.

We decorated the front for Halloween. I must say that the glow in the dark, black light spider web isn't very cool. I bought the black lights but I don't think they are strong enough to make them glow.

This weekend we're going to have to carve pumpkins. Three kids means three pumpkins. There is a very high chance that I am doing two of them if not all. My daughter will probably try her best to carve hers. It really should be fun.

I know we are doing one DRAGON (daughter's), older son wants a TANK or HELICOPTER which I'm very unsure about and will have to see if I can find and youngest really doesn't care and I'm a DOG would be cute.

Have you carved your pumpkins? Are you even planning on doing it? Do you decorate or dress up or pass out candy?

We decorate and pass out candy. I am soooo not dressing up. Just not my thing. I loved it. I patiently waited for the next two book but was in a print book reading slump. I rectified that situation today by reading both.

The men are all arrogant and the women strong and bought them to their knees. I have to say my favorite heroine was Bella the Rebel Bride. She was the feisty, let's go get tatted up one of the group. She wasn't intimidated by their money or power which I thought was awesome.

For me these were quick reads. Maya's writing I think makes it even quicker. I was more interested in the story of book 3 and not so much the sex even though it was still hot and sexy. The writing was still very good and I was pretty invested in the town and people. Oh if only a place like Desire existed. I'm sure I'm not the first to say that either. There are plenty of fun loving, looking for their soul mate men there that I wouldn't mind meeting.

I can't think of anything that put me off in any of the books. I enjoyed the mystery of who was out to get Erin in book 4. I must say I was a bit surprised and I liked it.

That's about all I can think of right now. Its a little late while I write this up. I'm sure part of my brain has gone to sleep. Thye are an online book distributor and publisher of erotic romance and mainstream romance.

My first experience with them was ordering Kris Cook's first ever book PERFECTION
It was an easy and simple transaction. Downloading went smoothly. Nuff said.

Tonight I decided to get some books that were on my wish list.
COWBOY BOOTS AND UNTAMED HEARTS by Natalie Acres
DESIRE FOR THREE by Leah Brooke - Book 1 Desire Series
BLADE'S DESIRE by Leah Brooke - Book 2 Desire Series
CREATION OF DESIRE by Leah Brooke - Book 3 Desire Series
RULES OF DESIRE by Leah Brooke - Book 4 Desire Series

I was able to download all of them but when I got to DESIRE FOR THREE I clicked the wrong format. I canceled it before anything happened but then couldn't get the correct format. I shot an email off to BookStrand hoping it wouldn't be a problem or take long for it to be sorted out.

You know what? It took maybe an hour and I'm already back in business. They sent an email asking what the order number was. I sent one back with what they needed and they took care of the problem. No big deal. Quick like bunnies. All of the stories are great. This is a BDSM series so if you aren't into it as reading material then don't get it. Coming to the small Isle of Altair, inhabited mainly by women, that seems untouched by the disease, the warriors take over. They abolish Goddess Law and install Warrior Law, claiming both the isle and the women as theirs. The isle priestess places a curse on the isle that it will be plagued with constant battles from others who seek to take it as well.

Hope comes in the form of the Island Guardians who will possess the powers of earth, fire, water and air and a Mystic who will bring them all together to lift the curse and renew the goddess's protection.

This is the story of Erika, Guardian of Earth, and her warrior mates, Arik and Galen Savari. Join Erika as she learns what it means to be the warriors' mate as well as an Island Guardian.

Reader Advisory Note: Contains references to gang rape.

Fanning Her Flames

Farrah follows the call of flames. The power of fire is strong in her and hard to contain. Her time of claiming is approaching and she fears the ones who plan to claim her. Running from home in search of the Guardian of Earth, Farrah stumbles into the path of the Donan brothers and finds her life drastically changed. What will she do with not one, not two, but three warriors vying for her attention and setting her body aflame?

Marcus, Alexi and Bannen Donan stand six-foot-seven inches with blond hair and fierce blue eyes. They played by the rules once before and lost their chosen mate. This time they will take first and deal with the consequences later. The green-eyed beauty with the fire-streaked golden hair will belong to them. And nothing will stand in the way of the bond they will form together. Not even the ones who followed with a claim of their own.

Available at Ellora's Cave

Regular: $14.99

On Sale Now: $12.00 (as of 23 Sep 09)

New look

I like to change out the look of the blog. Its fun and just something I enjoy. I like to use the pictures I've taken of books I own for my header. It could be the work of one single author or just whatever ones I fell work best together.

This time around I tweaked the original picture and I think it turned out great. But than that's my opinion and since its my blog I think that's almost all that counts.

So hope you like the new look. I've also done some work on the links that I have. I think I need to play around with it some more. I'm thinking about going back to a 2 column style but haven't decided yet.

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

I went to the Renaissance Festival up in Maryland yesterday and met up with Melissa Schroeder and family. Had a really good time.

Today I watched football and was disgusted to see that I am losing this week's fantasy football match-up. With only 2 more players to play I just don't see me pulling over an upset. I also read FRANNIE 'N' THE PRIVATE DICK. It was a quick and cute read. Now don't get your knickers in a knot, there is some smokin' sex in there, it just happened to be a cute story.

Altered States Series released in print yesterday

I've already ordered my copy. The fact he’s pleasuring himself is even more intriguing but within minutes she becomes his prey. He stalks her, arousing every female instinct she possesses, and then claims her—carnally. When Zoia learns Kol is battling a situation he doesn’t understand, her need to help surfaces.
Kol has holed up in his family’s cabin to learn the cause of his unsettling blackouts. The appearance of a vivacious nature photographer sets off his radar. Within minutes, Zoia invades his space—and her sweet body becomes his lifeline back from unexplained memory lapses. Can their growing attachment survive the discovery of his startling secret?

Beast Within by Betty Hanawa
Dylan wakes from a blackout, horny as hell, naked and stuck in a cage. Adding to his frustration is the sight of sexy wildlife officer Haley holding a gun on him. Even though he thinks Haley is crazy to insist the cage held a rescued wildcat, Dylan’s grateful to wake from another blackout in her home.
Haley wants to enjoy Dylan’s hot body but must force the former Special Forces officer to accept the fact that he changes into a jaguarondi. Haley wants the passionate man, not the wildcat, and devises an erotic game to teach him to control the shifting.
Hating to be submissive, Dylan knows he must trust Haley to train him to command the beast within.

Naked Prey by Myla Jackson
After his release from a secret gene-alteration hospital, Special Forces soldier Ramon Osceola retreats to his home in Big Cypress Swamp, Florida. It’s the only place he can escape a society that wouldn’t understand his altered state.
Dr. Hannah Richards escapes Hell Hospital to find the man who can help save her daughter, one of the men whose genes she altered. Will he help her despite what she did to him? Or will he seek revenge against her for changing his life forever? Together, they search for answers and find a love that crosses the boundaries of man and beast.

Unleashing the Tiger by Delilah Devlin
An analyst in a secret government agency, Casey McTaggert has dedicated her life to the capture of one suspected terrorist. Even before she’s abducted in the midst of a firefight, she’s completely fascinated with the man called the “The Tiger”. But what began as a professional obsession quickly becomes lust as his dark features and harshly hewn body awaken a forbidden passion.
Khalid Razeh can’t fight the genetic programming that makes him shift into a tiger any more than he can resist the sensual allure of his lovely hostage. While forcing her to accompany him on one last mission, he fights his overwhelming attraction, knowing he is walking into a trap that will end in death. Casey’s tender lovemaking and growing belief in his innocence are a sweet balm to his wild, savage soul.

Altered States print available from Ellora's Cave

Frannie 'n' The Private Dick by Delilah Devlin

One day you may get tired of me talking about Delilah. I will lament the day that happens but I really just can't help myself. I enjoy her books. Some more than others but isn't that how it always goes. She writes great stories that take me to wonderful places.

So.....Frannie 'n' the Private Dick has been reissued all on her own. It was originally released in 2004 as part of an anthology. I haven't read it yet but I do have my copy ready to go.
